50 QUESTIONS THAT WILL FREE YOUR MIND (PART FOUR)

Another batch of questions. Complete list at: http://bit.ly/E58d1

21 Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton?
- Joyful simpleton. We live to be joyful, not to be a worrier. 

22 Why are you, you?
- Because I'm not gonna be called me when I'm not the way I am. Haha

23 Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend?
- Yes, I believe so. Not always on the side, but will poke you if you’re being a bitch or something. And I think my friends love me for that. 

24 Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you?
- Losing touch with a good friend.

25 What are you most grateful for?
- The life and family and friends I have. 

26 Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?
- Can I skip this? Too hard. Haha. Promise to answer soon. 

27 Is it possible to know the truth without challenging it first?
- Know, yes. Understand the whole context, errr, nah.

28 Has your greatest fear ever come true?
- Yes. And at the time it came, I didn’t realize that it was my greatest fear.

29 Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset? Does it really matter now?
- 2006? Hmmm. No, doesn’t matter now. I don’t even remember the time when I was upset on that year.

30 What is your happiest childhood memory? What makes it so special?
–Every December. My family, that includes my cousins and everyone on Mum’s side, would spend a day hanging around the city together, find a good restaurant, hit the mall and buy whatever we want, see Christmas lights all around, and just laugh and sing together. I guess everyone of us, even our parents and Grampa feels like a kid on those days. 

50 QUESTIONS THAT WILL FREE YOUR MIND (PART THREE)

Third part of the 50 questions. I answered 10 cos I thought they weren't too hard to answer. Haha! I'm loving this. :)

11 You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire. They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend. The criticism is distasteful and unjustified. What do you do?
- I’ll tell them the truth that the one they’re talking about is a friend, and tell them stories of how a great person she is to me and to others who know her better. 

12 If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?
- You have a long way to go, kiddo. Enjoy your life ahead and never forget about God. :)

13 Would you break the law to save a loved one?
- Uhmm, I guess so? Haha. Tough. Sorry.

14 Have you ever seen insanity where you later saw creativity?
- A lot of times. Especially during college days in Bacolod. :)

15 What’s something you know you do differently than most people?
- Can’t think of anything. I guess I do what everyone does. I’m also human, after all. I do NORMAL and sometimes not-so-normal things. Haha. Makes sense?

16 How come the things that make you happy don’t make everyone happy?
- Because not all people find happiness on the same things.

17 What one thing have you not done that you really want to do? What’s holding you back?
- Nothing, really. I do whatever I want if I have a chance.

18 Are you holding onto something you need to let go of?
- I guess so??? Haha. Sssshh.

19 If you had to move to a state or country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why?
- Maskin city na lang. Bacolod. :) Because it’s where my heart is.

20 Do you push the elevator button more than once? Do you really believe it makes the elevator faster?
- Stupid, but, yes. Haha. I knoooow. Sorry, tao lang. :D

50 QUESTIONS THAT WILL FREE YOUR MIND (PART TWO)

6 If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?
- I’m sure I’m gonna be a billionaire with this. I find so much happiness in a lot of things, so I believe I’d be one of the richest.  Time with family and friends; a visit to my happy place, Bacolod; me and my book at my favorite coffee shop…and the list goes on and on. 

7 Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?
- Doing what I believe in.

8 If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently?
- Gasgas and luma but I always say I’m going to do everything that’s written on my bucket list, as soon as I start walking and able to understand.

9 To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken?
- I actually take control, most of the time. I believe I have every right to do what I want as long as I am being aware of my actions and their consequences. So when I fail, I fail because of me. And when I succeed, credits to myself and to people who supported me. Baw, artista lang? Lol

10 Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?
- Doing things right.  No further explanation. Haha

50 QUESTIONS THAT WILL FREE YOUR MIND

Found this from a really great blogger. As you have read from the title, it has fifty questions. I'm gonna try to answer five at a time cos I think some should take few reflections to give the best answer. If you want to try this for your self, visit http://bit.ly/E58d1

1 How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?
- Tough. Uhmm, 25? Haha. Older.

2 Which is worse, failing or never trying?
- Never trying, obviously.

3 If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?
- Because not everyone is given the chance to do whatever they like. Some people start doing things they don't like because of their 'obligations'. But once you learn to accept and appreciate your work, you will realize to yourself that it actually gives you self-satisfaction.

4 When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?
- Perhaps, it happens sometimes. Saying more than doing.

5 What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world?
- Oh God. This is difficult. A lot, actually. The negative ones. No more war, poverty and corruption please? Just peace, love and happiness. :)

THE ART OF SELF-IMPROVEMENT

Don’t you love discovering and learning new things? Opening your mind to the world gives you the chance to build bigger dreams. We dream because we want to contribute something that would make our lives even just a little better. Nobody wants to be stuck alone in a box where there is nothing but dust and spider webs left forgotten by time and changes.

What, then, is the vitality of self-improvement? It is vital if you don’t want to be left behind, when you want to discover the world and learn more. We can never be satisfied with what we already have because life has so much to offer. We can’t stop exploring and discovering the world because God was generous to create too many wonderful things, at the same time, He created man to enjoy the amazing world.

Do not be satisfied. Just be happy with what you have and save a place in your heart and mind a room for self-improvement. Welcome more love, success, good health, peace of mind, and other positive vibes. When the negative ones arrive, welcome them too. Embrace them and let them be the reasons to push you forward.

Right now, take a look at yourself and ask, “Is this all I’ve got? Is this all I deserve? Shall I be satisfied with my life now, or shall I move forward and give myself a chance to be better?” If you choose the latter part, then congratulations! You have just opened yourself to an opportunity of a better you. Well, then, what are you waiting for? Start today. Improve your self by discovering the world.

Ode to the Nice Guys

NOTE: This was sent to me by an officemate. Pardon me for reposting. It's just so lovely. Too bad, I don't know the author. Enjoy reading. I did. :)

This is a tribute to the nice guys. The nice guys that finish last, that never become more than friends, that endure hours of whining and bitching about what assholes guys are, while disproving the very point. This is dedicated to those guys who always provide a shoulder to lean on but restrain themselves to tentative hugs, those guys who hold open doors and give reassuring pats on the back and sit patiently outside the changing room at department stores. This is in honor of the guys that obligingly reiterate how cute/beautiful/smart/funny/sexy their female friends are at the appropriate moment, because they know most girls need that litany of support. This is in honor of the guys with open minds, with laid-back attitudes, with honest concern. This is in honor of the guys who respect a girl’s every facet, from her privacy to her theology to her clothing style.
This is for the guys who escort their drunk, bewildered female friends back from parties and never take advantage once they’re at her door, for the guys who accompany girls to bars as buffers against the rest of the creepy male population, for the guys who know a girl is fishing for compliments but give them out anyway, for the guys who always play by the rules in a game where the rules favor cheaters, for the guys who are accredited as boyfriend material but somehow don’t end up being boyfriends, for all the nice guys who are overlooked, underestimated, and unappreciated, for all the nice guys who are manipulated, misled, and unjustly abandoned, this is for you.
This is for that time she left 40 urgent messages on your cell phone, and when you called her back, she spent three hours painstakingly dissecting two sentences her boyfriend said to her over dinner. And even though you thought her boyfriend was a chump and a jerk, you assured her that it was all ok and she shouldn’t worry about it. This is for that time she interrupted the best killing spree you’d ever orchestrated in GTA3 to rant about a rumor that romantically linked her and the guy she thinks is the most repulsive person in the world. And even though you thought it was immature and you had nothing against the guy, you paused the game for two hours and helped her concoct a counter-rumor to spread around the floor. This is also for that time she didn’t have a date, so after numerous vows that there was nothing “serious” between the two of you, she dragged you to a party where you knew nobody, the beer was awful, and she flirted shamelessly with you, justifying each fit of reckless teasing by announcing to everyone: “oh, but we’re just friends!” And even though you were invited purely as a symbolic warm body for her ego, you went anyways. Because you’re nice like that.
The nice guys don’t often get credit where credit is due. And perhaps more disturbing, the nice guys don’t seem to get laid as often as they should. And I wish I could logically explain this trend, but I can’t. From what I have observed on campus and what I have learned from talking to friends at other schools and in the workplace, the only conclusion I can form is that many girls are just illogical, manipulative bitches. Many of them claim they just want to date a nice guy, but when presented with such a specimen, they say irrational, confusing things such as “oh, he’s too nice to date” or “he would be a good boyfriend but he’s not for me” or “he already puts up with so much from me, I couldn’t possibly ask him out!” or the most frustrating of all: “no, it would ruin our friendship.” Yet, they continue to lament the lack of datable men in the world, and they expect their too-nice-to-date male friends to sympathize and apologize for the men that are jerks. Sorry, guys, girls like that are beyond my ability to fathom. I can’t figure out why the connection breaks down between what they say (I want a nice guy!) and what they do (I’m going to sleep with this complete ass now!). But one thing I can do, is say that the nice-guy-finishes-last phenomenon doesn’t last forever. There are definitely many girls who grow out of that train of thought and realize they should be dating the nice guys, not taking them for granted. The tricky part is finding those girls, and even trickier, finding the ones that are single.
So, until those girls are found, I propose a toast to all the nice guys. You know who you are, and I know you’re sick of hearing yourself described as ubiquitously nice. But the truth of the matter is, the world needs your patience in the department store, your holding open of doors, your party escorting services, your propensity to be a sucker for a pretty smile. For all the crazy, inane, absurd things you tolerate, for all the situations where you are the faceless, nameless hero, my accolades, my acknowledgement, and my gratitude go out to you. You do have credibility in this society, and your well deserved vindication is coming.

OPEN LETTER TO A SOULMATE

Dear Friend,

I write this letter because I want the world to know that I have one of the best-est people in this crazy world. It's not your birthday, it's not even Christmas or New Year yet, but I don't need any special occasion to push me to write to you. It only takes an ordinary moment of our busy lives to let you know how extraordinary you are to me.

We have known each other for over twenty years, and have been closest for the past eight years. You have a lot of special people in your life, but I want you to know that in mine, you are, perhaps, my best friend. My soul mate.

You are one person who is not scared to laugh at me when I stupidly think of you-know-what. You are not afraid to tell me the opposite of what I feel. You make me realize that not everything I feel in that instant moment is what my heart really says. you make me listen to what it doesn't say. You know what I need to hear even before I tell you.

You know when to hold my hand and cry with me, or just to let me be. You know when to support me, or when to tell me it's enough. You know when to laugh at me, or when to take me seriously. You know when I need a friend, or when I need to be with my self alone. it's like you happen to hear my inner soul.

I thank you for the times where you made me feel appreciated just as I am, no matter how stubborn or childish I could be. I thank you for the times where you laugh with me at my corniest jokes, even when sometimes, you are the one we laugh about. I thank you for unselfishly sharing your wisdom with me. I thank you for the amazing eight years of friendship.

I thank you because, together, we are able to live up the way we call each other.

And I promise that is how we are going to be for the next eight years, and even for the rest of our lifetime. We will stand by each other. We will forever be each other's friend. We will forever be each other's soulmate. :))

much love,

Kikay♥
