OPEN LETTER TO A SOULMATE

Dear Friend,

I write this letter because I want the world to know that I have one of the best-est people in this crazy world. It's not your birthday, it's not even Christmas or New Year yet, but I don't need any special occasion to push me to write to you. It only takes an ordinary moment of our busy lives to let you know how extraordinary you are to me.

We have known each other for over twenty years, and have been closest for the past eight years. You have a lot of special people in your life, but I want you to know that in mine, you are, perhaps, my best friend. My soul mate.

You are one person who is not scared to laugh at me when I stupidly think of you-know-what. You are not afraid to tell me the opposite of what I feel. You make me realize that not everything I feel in that instant moment is what my heart really says. you make me listen to what it doesn't say. You know what I need to hear even before I tell you.

You know when to hold my hand and cry with me, or just to let me be. You know when to support me, or when to tell me it's enough. You know when to laugh at me, or when to take me seriously. You know when I need a friend, or when I need to be with my self alone. it's like you happen to hear my inner soul.

I thank you for the times where you made me feel appreciated just as I am, no matter how stubborn or childish I could be. I thank you for the times where you laugh with me at my corniest jokes, even when sometimes, you are the one we laugh about. I thank you for unselfishly sharing your wisdom with me. I thank you for the amazing eight years of friendship.

I thank you because, together, we are able to live up the way we call each other.

And I promise that is how we are going to be for the next eight years, and even for the rest of our lifetime. We will stand by each other. We will forever be each other's friend. We will forever be each other's soulmate. :))

much love,

Kikay♥

Something About Bacolod (SAB) 1

Long overdue blog.

I was never the the type of student who fixes her things night before class, gets excited to wake up in the morning to go to school, or is very attentive in lectures. To label it, i was the one who sleeps late reading a non-academic book, enters the class 30 seconds before the bell rings and notices and laughs at my professors speech defect. You see, I was never a school girl. I only loved school because of friends, allowance, intramural, and life stories that I could learn from both my lecturers and classmates/schoolmates.

But nearing graduation, perhaps I could say I was one of the saddest students. The idea of graduation meant leaving my sanctuary, my comfort zone, Bacolod. It meant leaving my freedom, independence, friendship and bond to people who were once strangers to me. It meant leaving my happiest days. It meant leaving my life. It felt like I was going to leave my home.

Please don't be misled by that. I love the town where I am originally from, much more, I love my family who is here. but you know, it's different when you have found a place where your heart is. Bacolod has taught me lessons in life I may have never learned if I stayed in Iloilo, if I didn't fail from my first college school. I may have never met some people whom I call my family now. I may have never been the Kate that I am now.

Bacolod is not just about me being independent or free. It's the feeling of being at home. Bacolod is home away from home. Talk about being ironic but; It might have not been the life I wanted to live, but when graduation came, I never wanted to leave.

I was never a school girl. And I won't go back to school just to stay up late reading non-academic books, enter the class 30 seconds before the class starts, or laugh at my professor's speech defect. But I would gladly go back to Bacolod and be where my heart is truly happy. :))

IMPROPMTU IN A SWEET DREAM

Note: Entry originally posted on my old blog years ago. This is one of my favorite entries so I decided to re-post it here, and because I think I'm back on this feeling again of being distant to Him. This entry is my personal eye opener with my personal relationship to God.

The clock on my phone says it’s 1:13am. Everything is silent except for a small sound made by the dogs barking outside. I hugged my pillow tight ‘till I realized that tears kept falling down my face. And thoughts came in. Just as how messy and unhappy my life now is? Looking down on the deeper side, just as how dark is it the thoroughfare am I traveling on? Just as how unsure am I of the way I’m choosing? Just as until when will I say that I’m not affected? That I’m not in pain? That I’m tough and that I’ll get by? Just as how long can I pretend that things are doing so well? Just as how long will I be wearing the mask of a happy face? I took my furrowed blanket and wrapped my frail body from a different kind of coldness. I folded my body as much as I could. Then found myself sobbing… and the tears just can’t stop falling. They were like heavy rain pouring on a lonely and monotonous day. I became deaf with the silence. I felt alone and weak that I could hardly help my self get off my bed. Then I felt a gentle caress of a smooth hand on my face, wiping the tears away from my eyes, then a warm embrace from the arms of Someone who seems to be so loving and forgiving. I opened my eyes and was surprised seeing the image sitting next to me. A Person who owns the most peaceful face. He helped me get up from my bed, smiled at me as if reminding me that He has not forgotten me.

Then questions and regrets filled my mind. “How unfair have I been with Him?” “How unfaithful have I been with my duties and responsibilities?” “How on earth have I been rejecting and neglecting the things I must have done long before?” “What came into my mind that I let those stupid things happen?” And how far have I been with Him? So far…too far that I almost forgot I’m His daughter. I was too preoccupied and blinded by the earthly things that He LEND me. I was too busy with the “deceiving reality” that surrounds me. I was consumed by my ambitions and temporary pleasures.

I’m sorry… were all the words I could utter. I kept on repeating them in between my lousy cries. And there He was silent, patiently listening to my sobs. Tapping my back and assuring me that He’ll always be my Bestfriend. Comforting me and making me understand that I am not alone, and that He has long forgiven me before I grasp that I have sinned.

The feeling I could not fathom, and almost could not accept as true, then I woke up, and saw the sun shining down on my face. I breathe the fresh air and savor a new day.

This could be the start of a new life. Of relearning from my mistakes, of accepting and changing my imperfections, of holding on instead of letting go, of staying real rather that hiding behind those pretending masks, Of loving and trusting Him more rather than being blinded by these “deceiving reality”.

LISTEN TO GAIN

I am an avid fan of smart talkers.

Confirmed. Positive. I love listening much more than I like talking and voicing out my thoughts.

In my life, i am blessed to personally know some people who really take my breath away, leave my mouth hang open and my ears listening attentively each time they talk. People who would inspire me, who would talk about how they see life, deal with problems, get over with a failed relationship, understand and still obey their parents even when sometimes they're being unreasonable.

It is true that I could sit looong hours with my friends for an endless conversation. Sometimes we'd even forget that we have more things to do, but of course, in this age, you just can't limit yourself about knowing and learning more. It pays to listen as much as it pays to read. You learn in both ways. We learn in both ways.

Listening to other people would widen the horizon of your mind. Interacting with them would make yourself wiser.

Wisdom is one thing I'd like to gain from every people I bumped with in this life. it is something no one could ever take away from you. It is something that you can proudly share with other people. May it bring a small or huge impact in their lives, it is important that your words have inspired them.

To end this post, i wish i have encouraged you to listen to other people. Sometimes, there may be contradictions with your own views and opinions, welcome them. Hey! There's nothing wrong wit that as long as you are gaining something.

Take time talking with your family, friends, boyfriend or girlfriend. The topic doesn't have to be you. I suggest you talk about other events, situations, experiences or people. Anything about life. life talks, as I call them.

Open Letter

Dear Filipino Voters,

We have barely three weeks before the May 2010 election. Are you ready for that big day?

As one of you, I would like to ask for your honest and clean votes. We live in a country where freedom and democracy are practiced. Please stand on your own principle. Let us all give respect to ourselves by not allowing desperate politicians to buy our votes for whatever amount.
Let us have dignity. Let us all remember that whatever may happen in our country in the future, it is us who chose and made that decision. Let us be wise. Let us open our minds to the world of reality. Let us show the world that we know what is good for our country and ourselves. We are Filipinos. We are wise voters.

Vote for someone whom you believe. Listen to your heart. Have your OWN choice, not just because this candidate is being endorsed by your favorite celebrity. Not just because everyone in your family is voting for this person. Go for your own choice. Pray to GoD that He will help us with this.

IT IS TIME TO MAKE A STAND. Not only for us, but for the future generation.
